What are astrological charts?
Astrological charts are based on the kind of information you find in regular horoscopes but is expanded to a much deeper and more personal level of interpretation. Many of us are familiar with astrology in some form, even if we only ever read our sun sign horoscope predictions in a newspaper or magazine.
A unique guide to your true self in astrological charts
Astrological charts could be described as a cosmic ‘snapshots’ as they can be created for any specific moment in time. The most common types of astrological charts are the birth charts, sometimes called the natal chart, and this is the chart that represents the exact moment in time a person was born into the world.
By looking at the sun, moon and planets at the exact time of your birth a skilled astrologer can create your very own personal horoscope. Your unique astrological chart reveals much about your public persona, your inner personality and your innate drives and ambitions. It can also be used to predict events or upcoming trends in the future and may be able to give you an insight into possible career options or show you the type of person you would be compatible with in romantic relationships.
What does a birth chart look like?
If you have consulted an astrologer to have your astrological charts drawn up you will be presented with what looks like a wheel, divided into 12 sections and covered in a complex matrix of symbols and glyphs. These represent the astrological signs, planets and other forces that make up your personal horoscope.
Your birth sign will probably be already known to you as this is the sun sign your birthday falls under - in other words this is what makes you a Taurus or a Leo etc. However there are other very important signs that feature in your full horoscope such as your moon sign and your rising sign (sometimes referred to as your ascendant) and these help to build up a more rounded insight into your character and motivations.
The three basic elements in astrological charts are the 12 signs of the zodiac, the planets and the 12 houses, all of which feature in your own chart. The astrological chart wheel therefore contains 12 combinations of sign, house and planet, each with its own unique interpretation relevant for you - an example of this would be the ‘sun in Aries in the 7th house.’
Interpreting astrological charts
Interpreting your astrological birth chart involves considering these 3-way cosmic combinations along with the relationship of the planets to each other at the time of your birth. This provides you with a better understanding of your personality, your life path and possible events you may encounter. You can learn how interpret your birth chart yourself, although it will take a lot of dedicated study to fully understand how to interpret a birth chart, or you can consult a professional astrologer who can draw up your chart and interpret it for you.
